Legal Recognition of Physiotherapy Clinics
In India, Physiotherapists are legally permitted to establish and operate their own Physiotherapy Clinic / Rehabilitation Centre, provided they offer physiotherapy-based treatment only, and do not prescribe medicines, administer injections, or perform surgical or invasive procedures.

Step-by-Step Process for Clinic Registration
- Obtain BPMA Membership: Your membership certificate acts as your primary professional identity.
- Choose an Appropriate Clinic Name: Select a clear, ethical name such as “Pain Relief & Movement Clinic”.
- Clinic Space & Facilities: Minimum 150–200 sq. ft, proper lighting, privacy, and basic therapy equipment.
- Obtain Local Business Registration: Apply for a Trade License or Shop & Establishment License.
- BPMA Clinic Recognition Certificate: Submit documents to BPMA for verification and recognition.
- Mandatory Display: Display BPMA Certificates, fees, and working hours clearly.
