Academic & Curriculum Standards

The Bhartiye Physiotherapy Medical Association (BPMA) recommends uniform standards of academic curriculum and clinical training for physiotherapy programs in India.

Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT)

  • Duration: 4.5 Years (including 6 months of compulsory rotatory clinical internship).
  • Core Syllabus: Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Biochemistry, Biomechanics, Pathology & Microbiology, Pharmacology, Electrotherapy, Exercise Therapy, Orthopaedics, Neurology, General Medicine, and General Surgery.
  • Clinical Training: Minimum 1,200 hours of clinical postings in recognized hospitals and rehabilitation centres.

Master of Physiotherapy (MPT)

  • Duration: 2 Years.
  • Specializations: Musculoskeletal, Neurological, Cardiopulmonary, Sports, Paediatric, and Geriatric Physiotherapy.
  • Research & Thesis: Compulsory research project and thesis submission under approved guides.
